Shalford Lake is one of three lakes making up the Shalford Syndicate in Wasing Woods, alongside Staghead and Bottle Lake. Originally a gravel pit, it has since matured into a genuine wildlife sanctuary, with kingfishers, egrets and bitterns regularly seen around the banks.
As a syndicate water with bailiff support and a regular stocking programme, it holds carp to 46lb-plus alongside tench, perch and bream, in what's generally described as a calm, tranquil setting rather than a high-pressure venue.
